Welcome to the FlickFly technique guide.
This page is designed to help you get the most out of your play by understanding the fundamentals of control, accuracy and flow.
FlickFly is simple to start, but like any physical skill game, mastering it comes from small details. How you hold the disc, how you flick your fingers, and how you control your wrist all shape the way the disc flies and how enjoyable the game becomes.
In the sections below, you will find clear, step by step guidelines that cover both basic play and more advanced throwing techniques. These instructions are meant to improve consistency, distance and accuracy while keeping the experience natural and fun.
Whether you are just starting out or looking to refine your style, take your time, experiment, and let your movement guide you. FlickFly is about flow, not force, and every throw is a chance to improve and enjoy the moment.
The disc is held between the thumb and the middle finger.
It should rest on the pad of the thumb and on the nail of the middle finger in a balanced and stable way.
It is important to keep a small gap between the palm and the disc to ensure there is no contact that could interfere with the release.
Any unnecessary contact may disrupt the disc’s proper flight.
Source of power in the throw
Most of the power in the throw comes from the flicking motion of the middle finger, not from the entire arm.
To aim correctly, the palm should be opened toward the target.
Make sure that the half-circle of the disc is facing the target – this is the most accurate way to aim.
Keeping the wrist in a straight line
During the release, the wrist should remain straight and stable toward the target; any deviation will cause the disc to deviate in flight.
To make the disc fade, slightly lift the wrist so the disc flies in a soft arc.
Excessive wrist movement will harm the quality of the flight and may cause the disc to “get stuck” against the wind instead of using its aerodynamic shape.
